About Us
OpenAccess offers a unique service because it makes it possible for any individual, interest group, business or organisation to observe radio emission levels from any monitored mobile phone mast/base station or similar installation in any part of Ireland.
Openness & Transparency
In delivering this service OpenAccess is totally committed to openness and transparency. As part of that commitment all readings from our monitors are made available on-line through this web site and all of our monitoring activities are independently audited by Dublin City University. All results from our monitors are initially sent to a server at DCU before being made available on-line.
Committed to Highest Global Standards
OpenAccess is also committed to meeting the highest standards on a global basis. Founded by Vilicom, a leading provider of engineering and consultancy services to the mobile industry, in association with the School of Electronic Engineering at Dublin City University, it brings together a unique range of skills sets and expertise to make possible a world class radio emissions monitoring service.
DCU School of Electronic Engineering
The School of Electronic Engineering is at the forefront of telecommunications education and research in Ireland and has a long history of successful industrial collaboration. Several School research groups play leading roles in RINCE, the Research Institute for Networks and Communications Engineering, a DCU-based national centre for excellence in Information and Communications Technology. Through these groups the School possesses significant expertise in telecommunications, most notably in the areas of propagation and scattering modelling for wireless communications, radio and optical communications, switching and systems, and performance engineering.
