Fig 1. Schematic representation of the OpenAccess system.
System Description
The remote monitors are placed in the vicinity of a mobile telephone mast and continuously monitor and store the electromagnetic field (EMF) strength at that location.
Selecting the optimum location to position monitors to focus on the areas of highest intensity of radio emissions emanating from any telephone mast is part of the specialist service provided by OpenAccess.
The monitors have built-in wireless modems and the data stored in them is downloaded once a day via these modems to a computer server located at Dublin City University; this is the web server identified in the above diagram.
The downloaded data from all the monitors is converted into a graphical format on the web server and is then available for viewing by interested parties. The diagram above shows the web server connected wirelessly to the remote monitors and physically to the Internet.
Any interested parties can then view the graphs by connecting to the web server via the Internet and these are represented by PCs in the diagram above.
